Soccer Type

The most famous soccer type is of course the outdoor soccer. This type is played all around the world, with a huge number of countries having their own soccer teams for both men and women. Not only this but there are both premier and youth soccer leagues working in many countries, working for the promotion of the game. The outdoor soccer is played between two teams of eleven players in each side playing for ninety minutes. A rectangular field of various dimensions, however, following a standardized length and width, is used in the international and league matches.

Indoor soccer, as opposed to the outdoor one has become a very popular sport in North America, so much so that there is even a league with the name of Indoor Major League Soccer in USA. Although the game is quite similar to the outdoor soccer, there are certain things which are different too. There are smaller numbers of players, normally five to six, duration of one half is lesser, the numbers of substitutions are more as compare to the outdoor soccer. Even the field on which the game is played is of different style, most of the time either playing on the hard court or the Astroturf.

Futsal is a kind of indoor soccer. Its name originated from the Portuguese fuetbol de salao and the Spanish futbol sala/de salon. Futsal is played between two teams of five players at each side, including the goal keeper. Every team can have seven substitutes. Unlike some other varieties of the indoor soccer, the court in futsal is restricted by drawing the lines, like in the outdoor soccer. The ball of futsal is much smaller as compare to the one used in other types, having less bounce.

The beach soccer is another variation brought into the association football. This sport is played on beaches, where the emphasis is laid on the skills to maneuver the ball, agility of the player and scoring the goals. Although the game is played for many years, however, in 1992, a formal association with the name of Beach Soccer Worldwide was introduced. This association formalized the rules of the game applying them on all the beach soccer matches played across the world. All the beach soccer tournaments are also organized under this association.

Street soccer is the most informal type of soccer played nowadays. In this type the game does not require to follow the rules of the game to their fullest. The players do not need a large field, markings over the field, the goal posts and nets, flags or even eleven players in each team. The only thing required by the kids playing on the street is a ball along with a wall, serving the purpose of the goal. Street soccer is the most unhindered form of soccer where the only thing the players follow are the skills and the moves with which they play with the ball, bringing it in complete control the game is full of the unrestricted kicks and shoots and heads. Every type of soccer has its own benefits and use. Each one of them has its own fan club and follows the game with a lot of craze. The first (outdoor soccer) and the last one (street soccer), however, are the most popular and widely played types of soccer.
