It is not compulsory to wear the soccer goalie gloves, however due to lot of risk of injuries, most of the goal keepers have started to wear them now. The rest of the soccer goalie equipment is similar to the ones which the other players use. It includes the shorts, cleats and the shin guards.
Special soccer goalie camps are organized in order to cover the most neglected parts of the goalie training. They must be taught to remain on their toes at the time of saving a penalty kick, rather than to be on their heels. In this way they will be able to show a faster reflex action. The player’s posture may reflect how he is going to throw the ball, whether he wants to keep it in the ground or throw it in air. The goalie must be taught the techniques to judge the player’s intention. They have very less time to judge the side the ball is going once it is being hit. So they must remain in the middle of the goal. This will allow them to move on either side of the goal.
