Indoor Soccer

Earlier it was introduced in order to provide the players of outdoor soccer with a chance to keep them fit and active during the extreme winter season, when playing outside becomes almost impossible. Later it was approved as an altogether different game. As a result many leagues and teams came into existence and many tournaments are now held in relation with the indoor soccer.

The positions in the indoor soccer league remain the same as they are in the outdoor one. Meaning that, there will be a goal keeper, defenders, mid fielders and attackers. However, the number of players playing form each side does not remain the same. A total of six players including the goal keeper are a part of the game. However, this is not a fix number. The number of players can vary from court to court, as not all of them are of same size.

The ball remains really active in the indoor games, the reason being the place is usually surrounded by the walls or the nets. The field is way too smaller than in the outdoor soccer, therefore, these become very fast paced games. Sometimes when the place is not smaller enough then extra barriers are created by putting some boards or the net around the field, from which the ball could easily rebound.

Time and again same question repeated as what are the rules of the indoor soccer. The indoor soccer rules vary from club to club and tournament to tournament. If you are interested in taking part in any of the competition better contact the organizers before hand in order to ask them what rules would be followed there.

However, some of the basic indoor soccer rules are as follows: the indoor soccer does not follow the offside rule. When the ball hits the netting above the wall or on the ceiling, a free kick is awarded to the opposite team from the place of hitting of the ball. Corner kicks are awarded when a ball hits the netting above the goals. Corner kicks are taken from the white circle in the rounded corner of the field. Most often there are no penalty kicks but in their place a shootout between a goalie and an opposing player takes place.

The substitution is done quite differently here. Usually there are seven substitutions that could be made by each side, as oppose to the three substitutions in the outdoor soccer. This is not all, as in certain tournaments there is no limit on the substitutions that are being made. The game is also not stopped in order to make the substitutions.

In indoor soccer red card has the same meaning as it is in the outdoor one, meaining by if the player is shown a red card it means he is being sent. However, in place of yellow card the warning is given with the help of a blue one.

The Major Indoor Soccer League is the top professional indoor soccer league in USA along with Mexico. The league is a member of both United States Soccer Federation and FIFA. This league was formed in 2001, when the National Professional Soccer League did not remian in existence any more. The six remianing teams of NPSL formed another of their own by the name of MISL. The Boise indoor soccer and Mcminnville indoor soccer teams are also a part of this league.
