During the second half of the nineteenth century, soccer, rugby and most other sports gained lot of popularity. It in fact was the out come of the industrial revolution which engulfed the whole Europe and so the soccer history emerged

The Soccer game, with the help of ball, has been played through out the history. The history of soccer could be traced back to China in the early part of the second century, where the game tsu chu or ‘kicking the ball’ was a part of the military training. A complex game of tsu chu was used to be played on the day of emperor’s birthday. In this game a ball full of birds’ feathers was used, which they throw in a goal, made up of net. Kemari was a game played in Japan during the seventh century. In this game players try to kick a ball without letting it touch the ground. The modern rules of the football integrated in the middle of the nineteenth century where efforts were made to create a proper standard of the game, out of the various forms of the game played in England.

History of women’s soccer is as old as the game itself. Documents were found depicting that even women used to play Tsu Chu during the Han Dynasty. In modern soccer Association football organized early soccer matches. The French women used to play it as a part of the folk games.

The history of the FIFA world cup goes back to 1921. The president of the world football governing body FIFA, Jules Rimet has the credit of initiating the history of soccer world cups. The plan was announced in 1926, involving all the football federations working in their respective continents at the time. They decided to hold an event which would involve all of them. So finally the event was held on 13 July 1930. Uruguay was given the hosting of the event considering their outstanding performance during the Olympics. The first game was played between France and Mexico, where France defeated Mexico by 4-1. However, Uruguay went on to win the world cup in the end that defeated Argentine 4-2. The first world cup did not include the qualifying rounds of the modern day. There were only four European teams which took part in the world cup. The others either opted out to continue the armature football or refused to come claiming it would be very difficult for them to travel that far.

The history of soccer in USA is very old. However it was only 25 to 30 years ago when it really found a boom in United States. This popularity is credited to the existence of North American Soccer League from 1960 to 1984. However the history of professional soccer in United States is not very strong. It did not gain strength professionally as much as it did in South America or Europeans, because there is no major soccer league like that of basketball, baseball or American football. United States’ history of soccer for women is however, richer and stronger than that of mens.

Mexican soccer history is only a century old, when this game had already been well established in Europe and South American countries, it was merely growing roots in Mexico. However, after the start of 20th century it grew quite fast and in 1923 Mexico already had its national team and a professional championship. The game’s popularity reaches its hype in 1930 with the participation of the national team in the world cup soccer.

The South American history of soccer is full of the history of soccer in Brazil and Spain. Brazilian football created the Athlete of the century and Footballer of the century, popularly known as Pelé.
